Cash query over University for Industry

THE CHIEF executive of the University for Industry's transition team admitted this week that he had no idea how much the government's flagship lifelong learning project would cost or who would pay. "How long is a piece of string?" Ian Johnston asked members of the House of Commons' education and employment select committee. He said universities and colleges would "probably" have to pay a "brokerage fee" for students joining them through the UfI. Other cash would come from "either employers, individuals or the state". Costings will be completed in November.
