Rumour has it that real professors at Warwick University have taken to calling themselves "Mr" ("Get the drinks in. It's professor all round", March 31).

To adopt the title indiscriminately is to devalue the idea of a professorship. Perhaps Warwick will apply the same logic to its administrators and call them all chancellors, for example, deputy associate vice-chancellor (filing).
