You are too negative about academic development courses for new lecturers. I was part of the first cohort at Bradford University to do a PGCHE. Initially, I felt it was going to be a waste of time because one's academic career is defined by grants and papers. However, I found the course was interesting and helped me as a researcher and a lecturer.
