It is time to fight for better pay and conditions - but by causing students to suffer? ("Hurt your students to escalate pay fight", THES , May 16). If employers fail to see that a 40 per cent fall behind the pay of those in similar professions is unacceptable, wouldn't it be more effective to "hurt" employers? I vote that we continue to teach, examine and research, but refuse to waste time on the mindless administrative processes that are so resented by those who want to educate.
