In December, I wrote a letter to Downing College, Cambridge, that I later sent to The THES ("Oxford tutor attacks Cambridge interview", THES , January 9), about my daughter's interview for a place to study medicine. I was concerned that the interview breached the college's guidelines for informality and direct encouragement. I gave three examples of incidences to substantiate a claim of bullying and intimidating.
The college has refused to reply to my letter, instead denying the claim through public statements and letters (Letters, THES , January 16). It boils down to my daughter's word against the college's. Perhaps videotaping interviews, as the college's letter suggests, might be the answer. It would protect everyone.
