Universities used to be places where students could protest freely and peaceably against what they saw as oppressive policies and practices. Not any more, it seems ("'George Fox 6' could be jailed over protest", September 2). In siding with those who make weapons and support the arms trade, Lancaster University is behaving in an oppressive fashion.
I am an external examiner to the university. I invite other external examiners and those with similar links to Lancaster to join me in resigning their posts if the university persists in this legal action.
