I agree with Nigel Probert (Letters, June 18) that there is "no science of management", but this does not lead to the conclusion that management is a non-subject.
He may also be right that most management academics would not make very good mathematicians or historians, but the converse is also probably true.
There is a serious debate to be had about the huge growth of management studies, but this is not the way to conduct it.
