Perhaps one way of overcoming the split in lifelong learning is to be creative about structures ("Split in sector is stifling lifelong learning, warns Niace leader", THES , May 11). The University of North London is developing within one institution a graduate school, an undergraduate curriculum and a college concerned with access and short courses of continuing education. A model for the future?
