Apologies to David Benedictus for saying he wrote the novel The Guinea Pig when I meant The Fourth of July ("The making of a vice-chancellor, THES, September 5).
The Guinea Pig was Roy Boulting's film starring Richard Attenborough and based on a play by Chetham Strode. The stories are similar.
