Stephen Wolfram has made a tactical blunder in hitching his revolutionary wagon to Thomas Kuhn's star ("New kind of science, old kind of sceptics?" THES , October 18). Kuhn claims scientific revolutions succeed only because the new paradigm solves problems that the old paradigm could not. Wolfram seems to be failing on that front.
