While it is true that Oxford is an extremely crowded place in which to try to expand, ?40 million has just been spent purchasing the Radcliffe Infirmary site and ?60 million allocated for its refurbishment. A nice central Oxford site.
At the same time, I believe that the Upper Heyford site - including housing for umpteen thousands, all related services, sports facilities, a hospital and acres of office accommodation - is still seeking a buyer with a price tag of some ?15 million for the lot.
All that and not that far from the city. Does the university always have to expand solely within a five-minute walk of the Radcliffe Camera?
