Baroness Greenfield is right to stimulate debate about the future of learning ("Book learning out of date", June 17), but her views about books and libraries are dated.
Libraries provide innovative learning spaces (both physical and virtual) and a rich array of electronic books, journals, images, learning materials, visualisations and other stimulating stuff. Many e-books are packaged with very innovative learning materials available online from special publisher websites.
I doubt we will ever experience a world in which reading is obsolete; we would expect students and staff to read (and listen and create and do and other active verbs) online.
