I was bewildered by the photo illustrating your article on the portrayal of Palestinians in Israeli history books ("Schooled in distrust: a textbook case of indoctrination?", 10 November). I fail to understand how a picture of two Hasidic men, one of whom appears to be transporting a clutch of volumes towards a stack of additional tomes, in any way abets the piece's substantive theme - other than perhaps to suggest that the individuals therein portrayed may live in Israel. Is this a case of stock footage run amok?
In any event, THE readers will be pleased to safely entitle themselves to this conclusion: that not one of the volumes ensconced in the Hasid's arms is an Israeli history book.
