Andrew Linzey encapsulates his piece about the Anglican church's attitude to gays ("Don't tolerate hatred of gays in the name of God", September 16) by referring to a nutty website. A straw man argument if ever there was. It reminds me of a spate of articles in the New Statesman when a variety of sociological theses were supported by observations of the behaviour of characters in soap operas. And Linzey is apparently a fellow of an Oxford college.
