The articles on pages I-V are based on papers to be presented this week-end at "Mysteries of Ancient China: New Discoveries from the Early Dynasties" at the British Museum in London.
The international conference starts tonight (Friday) with a session on "Innovations in Technology in Early China" chaired by Professor Lothar Ledderose of Heidelberg University. Saturday sees sessions on "Early civilisation in China" and "Eastern Zhou innovations" and on Sunday there are papers on "Texts and writing as revealed in recent finds from Chinese tombs" and "New views on mythology and religion in the Han period."
