Northumbria University has completed negotiations for the transfer of its Carlisle campus to the University of Central Lancashire.

The handover will take place on August 1 2004. The Higher Education Funding Council for England will support the transfer with ?1.9 million and the Northwest Regional Development Agency has pledged ?1.2 million.
