I am not leading negotiations on the joint contract under which most people work here (THES, January 29). I am not even a member of the working party looking at contracts. But I am an interested observer. If the working party succeeds, colleges and faculties will be able to negotiate more flexibly over the duties of new faculty - with benefits all round.
