The Government's decision to dismantle the Training and Enterprise Council network has "significantly set back" levels of entrepreneurship and enterprise across the UK, researchers at Sheffield University have concluded. A study by Sheffield's management school found little improvement in rates of entrepreneurship and enterprise development since Labour came to power in 1997. The researchers argue that a more focused enterprise policy with more support for budding entrepreneurs is needed to re-stimulate growth.
