The higher Education Statistics Agency's findings for 1996/97 reveal that:

7 per cent of those gaining a first degree obtained a first class honours award, and 41 per cent obtained an upper second - exactly the same as 1995/96

9.4 per cent of undergraduates came from overseas

10 per cent of first degree graduates gained their award through part-time study
