YOUR correspondent, (THES, December 19) who complains that the new British Library at St Pancras generates noise making it hard to study is clearly not a veteran Library user. For the old guard any question of noise - not exactly absent from Bloomsbury either - is dealt with by periods of intense concentration on the intellectual task in hand. It is what lesser mortals call having a nap.
