Call&nbsp;to combat animal rights extremists
Scientists have urged the home secretary to strengthen proposed laws to combat animal rights extremists. The Research Defence Society said&nbsp;the laws, debated in the Commons today, will tackle only four&nbsp;of the 20 tactics used by the extremists.

Students warned not to leak royal stories
St Andrews University students could face expulsion if they leak stories about Prince William, who begins a history of art degree there&nbsp;in the autumn. New principal Brian Lang is giving up his official residence to enable the history of art school to be housed in one building.

Lee Bowyer, 24,&nbsp; Jonathan Woodgate, 21, and Tony Hackworth, 20, deny&nbsp;charges&nbsp;of&nbsp; grievous bodily harm with intent&nbsp;and&nbsp;affray.
