Liverool Hope has lost its High Court bid to keep its "university college" title. The college of higher education won leave to appeal against the government's ban on the prestigious title for institutions which do not have their own degree-awarding powers, or are not a constituent part of a fully-fledged university. Hope intends to appeal.
