Indian economist and Nobel prizewinner Amartya Sen, who has been giving lectures at the University of Bologna, has complained of having to cancel a recent scheduled visit to Italy owing to the country's notorious bureaucracy. "My visas are limited by law to three or six months at a time and I am obliged to submit my official domiciled address to the authorities just eight days after arrival. In Italy everything is far too complicated," he said.
