An equal opportunities action group is to be established by the Higher Education Funding Council for England, the Committee of Vice-Chancellors and Principals and the Standing Conference of Principals.

The group's proposed aims are: to raise awareness of equal opportunities; to develop and disseminate good practice; to recommend appropriate targets; and to monitor progress in reaching targets. Some Pounds 2.5 million will be spent on the group's work over the next five years.
