Queen's University Belfast - Geoscience's greatest hits

Two papers from Queen's University Belfast have been declared "current classics" by Thomson Scientific, which says that they are among the most referenced in the world by geoscientists. Twenty-five academics, including Paula Reimer, Mike Baillie and Gerry McCormac, were involved for three years in compiling a 2004 paper on carbon dating, which has been cited more than 520 times. Dr Reimer was also involved in writing a 1998 paper on radiocarbon age calibration that has been cited nearly 2,500 times. Henry Small, chief scientist at Thomson Reuters, which compiles the information, said of Dr Reimer's work: "To have been involved as an author on two such papers is an extraordinary achievement."
