Scientists are seeking volunteers to provide homes for an endangered breed of aquatic invertebrates. Researchers from the University of Leeds are looking for ponds on farms or in gardens into which white-clawed crayfish can be introduced and then studied. The animal is native to British inland waters but now faces extinction due to the introduction of an American variety that eats its food. Anyone interested in hosting crustaceans should contact crayfish.science@googlemail.com
