University of Manchester - Greek women had equal power

Women, as well as men, held positions of power in Ancient Greece by right of birth, according to new research from the University of Manchester. A team of researchers tested ancient DNA from a high-status, male-dominated cemetery at Mycenae, identifying what they believe is a brother and sister buried together in a richly endowed grave, suggesting that the female had as much power as the male.
