It would be interesting to know why some v-cs accepted a pay rise in line with the percentage award to their staff. Was this on economic grounds or are there still a few v-cs for whom the expression "social justice" is not a foreign language? You mention a few individuals donating some of their rise to their university, but how magnanimous is ?4,000 from a ?181,000 salary?
