Ever since he rejoined The Open University, Graham Gibbs has been a frequent visitor to the office next to mine to share a sandwich lunch with the occupant, Vicky Lewis, and on many occasions they have left the building in each other's company. All the indications were that they lived together. Imagine my surprise, therefore, to discover from your profile of Gibbs (Professional, THES , November 14) that, all along, his partner and the mother of his two daughters has been a psychologist called Vicky Wright. There are more tactful ways of breaking the news to an unsuspecting world.
