Angry academics from St Petersburg University have protested against Russia's most popular television political satire, the puppet show Kulky, which they claim exposed acting president Vladimir Putin to "public dishonour". NTV independent television's Sunday-night version of Britain's Spitting Image screened episodes picturing Mr Putin as a mad doctor and an ugly child blessed by a spell to be loved by all.
