Noticeboards at the School of Slavonic and East European Studies in London announced an Albanian language course this term, but no classes are taking place as there is no teacher of Albanian.
The British embassy in Tirana was requested to recruit one as there was no sufficiently qualified teacher available in Britain. The request coincided with a routine change of ambassadors and the political turmoil in the Balkans made finding a teacher a low priority.
