Ambassador attacked

Sir Ivor Roberts, Britain's ambassador to Italy, was pelted with eggs, fruit and stones by anti-war demonstrators as he entered Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Studies in Bologna to give a talk on geography and diplomacy. Sir Ivor was not hit, but two police officers were injured. Afterwards demonstrators overturned rubbish bins and set fire to them, in protest at the police's allegedly brutal treatment of them.
