The BBC television show University Challenge is going global. Victorious teams from Queen's University, Belfast, Aberystwyth University, Birkbeck College and Edinburgh University are being pitted against universities in four Indian provinces in a competition organised by the British Council. The matches will be televised as a warm-up to University Challenge India, which begins on August 7 on BBC World. A British Council spokesperson said it aimed to enhance the profile of UK higher education in South Asia.
