Children in need at risk

Hundreds of asylum-seeking children are being put at risk because their age is disputed and they are treated as adults, according to the results of an 18-month research project funded by the Nuffield Foundation.

The report by Heaven Crawley, director of the Centre for Migration Policy Research at Swansea University, published by the Immigration Law Practitioners' Association, examines the experiences of children whose age is disputed and the implications for their asylum application and the level of social care and education provided, as well as for child protection and mental health.
