Community repair work neglected

Northern Ireland's further and higher education institutions could do more to combat sectarianism, according to a study launched this week. The study by Quinliven/Gilpin Black Consultancy was overseen by an advisory committee including the National Union of Students-Union of Students in Ireland, Queen's University Belfast, Ulster University and the Association of Northern Ireland Colleges. It found that less than 2 per cent of tertiary students had been involved in any form of community relations over 12 months. Only the two universities and 8 per cent of further education colleges had developed formal community relations policies.
