Concerns put sixth-form overhaul in doubt

THE REFORM of sixth-form qualifications is "all up in the air", a spokeswoman for the Schools Curriculum and Assessment Authority said this week. Following speculation that the previous government's reforms would be put on hold, SCAA said it has not yet discussed the matter with ministers.

Revised A level curriculums were due to be implemented in September, and SCAA is in the process of broadening study options with a revised AS level and a new National Diploma. But it is understood that some ministers want an even wider post-compulsory education framework, under a French Baccalaureate model.
