Durham University - Targeting North-East health

Thirty new researchers in human health and wellbeing will be in post by October in a ?5 million expansion of the Wolfson Research Institute at Durham University. The sum invested includes more than ?2 million from the National Institute for Health Research for new posts as part of a joint project with Newcastle University, running an advisory service for National Health Service staff. Tim Blackman, the institute's director, said: "There are many issues in the North East, such as health-related worklessness, that are deep-seated and need a better understanding of how to tackle them effectively."
