Pilot software for submitting research to the 2008 research assessment exercise was launched this week. This is the first time all submissions will be made electronically and institutions have until November to try the pilot system. Changes will be made based on the feedback, RAE manager Ed Hughes said. The final version is due out in December. The Higher Education Funding Council for England will survey the research universities plan to submit to the 2008 RAE early next year.
