Edinburgh prepares for autumn's final crop

Edinburgh University is set to drop its undergraduate courses in agriculture after the autumn intake. The move will leave Aberdeen University as the only Scottish east coast institution offering agriculture degrees.

The Scottish Higher Education Funding Council has been urging institutions to collaborate to achieve "strategic change".

All current agriculture students - and this year's entrants - will be able to complete their degrees at Edinburgh. Postgraduate and staff research in agriculture will continue.
