European education failing to harmonise

While European Union member states are taking steps to converge economically, their higher education systems are as diverse as ever, researchers at the Institute of Education have found. Despite European Commission programmes dedicated to encouraging common approaches to qualifications, credit accumulation and transfer, funding and quality assurance, there is little sign of change. The findings are published this week by the Institute of Education in Convergence and Divergence in European Education and Training Systems (price Pounds 15.99).
