The number of full-time students taking higher education courses in Scottish FE colleges rose by 6 per cent between 1996-97 and 1997-98 to 30,000. The latest provisional statistics from the Scottish Office Education and Industry Department show that in 1997-98 there were 410,000 enrolments in Scotland's 46 FE colleges.
