London got two new vice-chancellors this week. Geoffrey Petts, an environmental research scientist, joined Westminster University. He said that he was looking forward to increasing the university's engagement with the economic, social and environmental demands of urban life in London. Malcolm Gillies joined City University after five years at the Australian National University, latterly as vice-president (development). He called City "a trend setter... I am delighted to be taking the helm at such a progressive institution".
