In brief

I was disappointed that Lord Butler in his review of John Campbell's book on Margaret Thatcher thought the sub-title,"The Grocer's Daughter" was belittling ("The road from fruit and veg to purest iron", THES , October 20). Why should Mrs Thatcher be denied her (relatively) humble beginnings. Whatever one's view of the Thatcher years, it makes her "achievements" all the more remarkable.
