Hull University is to create a chair in Indian politics, believed to be the first in Europe. It will be named after C. R. Parekh, the father of chair donor C. C. Shroff and Bhikhu Parekh, professor in Hull's department of politics. Professor Parekh said: "In most cases where Indian politics is taught it tends to be ghettoeised and isolated. The new chair will mean that the study will benefit considerably by being located in a wider context."
