Labour manifesto to promote wider access

Further measures to widen access to university will form one of the main planks of the Labour Party's manifesto for the next election.

Last weekend's National Policy Forum, the results of which will be distilled into the manifesto, approved motions committing the Labour Party to continue to work with the higher education sector to increase access for those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

It was also agreed that staffing issues should be taken into account when deciding higher education funding.
