A new European Union funding programme aimed at boosting e-commerce is set to increase the number of websites hosted in Europe, especially those that use languages other than English.

The EU wants to merge INFO2000 and the Multilingual Information Society into a funding system that will promote the European multimedia industry, according to a report in Total Telecom.
