Students defy army to call for ceasefire
Thousands of university students have defied a military order and taken to the streets in Jaffna, Sri Lanka, to press the government to accept a ceasefire offered by the rebel Tamil Tigers.

Record $250m US donation
In what is reported to be the largest donation to a public university in the United States, internet entrepreneur William T. Coleman III and his wife Claudia are to give $250 million to the University of Colorado System. The money, phased over five years, will be used to develop technologies aimed at improving the lives of people with cognitive disabilities.
