Macedonian academy head resigns
The president of the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts, Georgi Efremov, has resigned amid widespread criticism of his plan to resolve the issue of Macedonia¡¯s ethnic Albanians by changing the frontiers with neighbouring Kosovo and Albania.

Brazilian students cheer for Che
Thousands of students representing a wide cross-section of Brazilian universities turned up at their 47th national union congress at Goi?nia yesterday wearing T-shirts and bearing banners and placards with images of left revolutionary Ernesto Che Guevara. The students were also united in their harsh condemnation of Brazilian president Fernando Enrique Cardoso, whose administration is coming under economic pressure.
