Inquiry bars cancer scientist
A Johns Hopkins University scientist has been barred from leading research involving human subjects after an internal inquiry found he had tested experimental cancer drugs on patients in India without required federal or university approvals and without adequate preliminary tests in animals. The scientist was principal investigator, working with Indian researchers in the southern state of Kerala, in an experiment involving oral cancer patients.

US sees sharp rise in Indian students
The numbers of Indian students at United States universities has risen by almost 30 per cent over the past year, according to a survey by the American Universities Admission Program. Numbers from Malaysia fell by 14.1 per cent. UK numbers were up 1.9 per cent.
