Taylor is new Bradford v-c
Christopher Taylor, pro vice-chancellor of the University of Leeds, will become the next vice-chancellor of the University of Bradford on October 1. Professor Taylor, a mechanical engineer and professor of tribology, is married to Diane Shorrocks-Taylor, professor of education at the University of Leeds.

Only 10% of 11-15s without a mobile
Ten per cent of children talk on their mobile phones for more than 45 minutes a day, research reveals. The Centre for Science Education at Sheffield Hallam University, which spoke to 1,000 pupils, found that 90 per cent of those aged 11-15 had a mobile.

Scots probe stalking
Researchers at the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen are to investigate the problem of stalking. The year-long research has been commissioned by the Scottish Executive, which is contemplating new anti-harassment laws.

RCA student flushed with success
Royal College of Art student Cajsa Flensburg has won the college¡¯s annual design award with a female urinal. Her ¡°scientifically designed¡± white porcelain bowl is environmentally friendly, using just three litres of water per flush.
